Established in 1914, Worksop Golf Club is nestled on the outskirts
of Worksop, bordering The National Trust’s Clumber Park and the
legendary Sherwood Forest, famously linked to Robin Hood.
Spanning 6,628 yards with a par of 72 for men and 5,928 yards
with a par of 74 for ladies, the course offers a challenging yet
rewarding experience for golfers of all levels. Known for its superb
natural sand and gravel subsoil, Worksop provides excellent playing
conditions year-round, with firm, fast-running fairways and subtly
undulating greens set within a mature woodland landscape.
While not the longest course, its challenge lies in the precision
required to navigate tight fairways lined with silver birch, gorse,
and bracken. Strategic play is key, as opting for a long iron or
three-wood over a driver can often yield better results on the firm,
running fairways. Renowned for its difficulty and quality, Worksop
Golf Club is regarded as one of the premier courses in the region. It
has also been the training ground for world-class golfers, including
Lee Westwood, Mark Foster, Maurice Bembridge, and David Snell.
The traditional clubhouse complements the course with a
welcoming atmosphere, excellent dining options, and first-class
hospitality, ensuring an enjoyable experience both on and off the
course.
